FFS Friday- Conspiracy theory

I tried to do a post on my phone on Tuesday and deleted last Thursdays post instead.  FFS

My words of wisdom are now lost forever.  FFS

Luckily I still have the comments in my inbox so I may be able to rewrite it.  FFS

I know last week I was whinging about people talking about Christmas well there was even more talk of it this week too.  FFS

Enough already, anyone with a calender knows there is 6 months to go.  FFS

It has rained here for the last 6 days.  Enough of that too Mother Nature.  FFS

Seriously, turn the tap off.  FFS

Thanks to the rain I had a massive stack yesterday outside our front door.  FFS

I am ok, just a little sore which is awesome since my hips and pulled butt muscle were nearly all better.  FFS

I believe the universe is conspiring against me so that I cannot sit down.  FFS

I think it has been about 3 weeks since I was able to sit normally.  FFS

In other baby news at my check up on Tuesday it was pointed out that Jellybean is posterior at the moment (spine against spine).  It had better turn back around or I will not be happy.  FFS

Add a sinus infection and this week has been great.  FFS
My computer has been doing some weird stuff lately.  It is making life hard.  FFS

I swear this is also part of the conspiracy to stop me from sitting down and doing anything fun.  FFS

Tomorrow I am going shopping by myself for last minute baby things.  I better come home with everything I need or there will be hell to pay as I am not dragging my butt to the shops after tomorrow.  FFS

Other than that it has been fairly quiet around here which is good seeing as how I can't sit down to write about it.  FFS

Should Dear Baby G happen to stop having fun on holidays and write a FFS Friday post I will be linking this up over there!!

Wordless Wednesday- Little Hands

Linking up last weeks scan of Jellybean (34 weeks) with My Little Drummer Boys for Wordless Wednesday

Tuesday 25 June 2013

To do list this week!!

Tomorrow will be week 35 of my FINAL ever pregnancy.  We had a scan on Friday and Jellybean is measuring perfectly, no 19lb baby for me, thank goodness!!  All the gestational diabetes stuff is under control.  We have a few more days of busy then school holidays start and none of our activities are on so apart from 1 appointment the kids and I have 2 weeks of nothing which I will be totally making the most of before life as we know it now changes.

I will however be on the edge of my seat for the next 2 weeks as 4 and a bit years ago the eldest was born at 35 weeks.  I really should remember to share that story!!  35 weeks is premature and we spent the first 12 days of his life in hospital.  Second time around I was induced just before my due date.  This was after being told by many people that having one early baby would mean that any others would be too.  Two more weeks and Jellybean can come out without being considered a prem!!  Hang in there Jellybean!!

I have a few things to do this week.  Actually they must be done this week just in case!!
  • Finish cleaning out Jellybeans room.
  • Wash all the baby clothes.  Hopefully the rain eases up soon!!
  • Finish packing the hospital bag.
  • Go shopping for a few bits and pieces that I need.
  • Get the calender up to date to make life easier for the HOTH who will be in charge when I am in hospital.
I think that just about covers everything on the list for this week!!  I have some of the scan pictures to share tomorrow if I can get some decent photos of the photos!!

Ps I had some technical issues yesterday, not sure if it was my computer or all the rain in Sydney.  Hopefully there will be none today and I can catch up on some blog reading from yesterday and today!!  Its not looking good so far as my wifi keeps cutting in and out!!

I must confess- Bad Habits

Despite what you and I may think I actually am not perfect.  I have a few minor little bad habits which despite my best efforts are very hard to break.  So in no particular order they include-
  • Daydreaming.  I could daydream the whole day away although not so much anymore since having kids.  My latest daydreams include all the food I am going to eat once Jellybean arrives!!
  • Procrastinating.
  • Being a gunna.
  • Zero organisation skills.
  • I am easily distracted.
  • Putting stuff off until the last minute.
  • I have a very low tolerence level to most things at the moment which is leading to me being
  • A yeller.  Everyone in my house is copping it lately.
  • I say one thing and do another.  Not all the time but sometimes
  • I am shocking at replying to comments on the blog.  If you happen to comment please be a mind reader as I reply in my head!!
Maybe I have a few more bad habits than I actually thought!!

Bloggers Boogie- embarrassing songs part 1!!

Bloggers Boogie is back which is great news as one of my fave things to do is to sit around finding songs on the tube and getting massively distracted jumping from  one artist to the next!! Then realising you have been on the computer for an hour and its dinner time!!  Whoops!!

I love what Little White Dove chose as her 5 songs for last week, embarrassing 90's songs!!  This week I decided to share just a small sample of my embarrassing favourites!!  Trust me there are heaps more where these little gems came from!!

Linking up some songs with great memories attached but in reality really are embarrassing with Little White Dove for Bloggers Boogey.

Things I Know- Not a bad week

Despite my rant yesterday plus some other minor things I forgot, like deleting Tuesdays ibot post and having to rewrite it, it has not been a bad week around here.

On Saturday the HOTH took the kids out for the afternoon and was gone for ages.  He came home with 2 tired boys who went to bed at 5;55 and 6;10pm and slept for 13 hours.  I did question whether he had drugged them but it turns out they had been bouncing on their cousins trampoline for ages!!  Guess what they are getting for Christmas!!  (Yes I said Christmas even though at this time of year ie 6 months out the sheer mention of it turns me into a ranting lunatic!!)

On Sunday we basically got up out of bed and went out for breakfast to our fave spot.  It has a park attached to it which I take the kids too sometimes and it was nice for the 4 year old to be able to show off his spiderman like climbing skills to Daddy.  I got a couple of awesome pics (just need to pop them on the computer!!)

Look at me so clever with my phone and the blogger app!!  I instagrammed this on Sunday!!

On Monday the 2 1/2 year old moved up a swimming class into the big kids class where he will swim all by himself meaning I no longer (for a little while) have to get in the pool and risk Greenpeace being called!!  The downside of this is now I have to make 2 trips to swimming every week as there was not a spot for him on a Monday when the other one goes.  Thats fine just means being seriously organised especially when it is time to do it with a new baby in tow!!  Hopefully a spot on a Monday opens up sooner rather than later.

The rest of the week has been spent cleaning and sorting the bedrooms and toyroom.  I thought I would get more done than what I did however I am stoked with this weeks progress.  Goals kicked for sure!!  I had my little helper helping me on Wednesday and Thursday so we moved at toddler speed eg when he helps me unpack the dishwasher he hands me things one at a time including the cutlery and I am not allowed to get anything out myself!!  The cuteness of that totally out weighs the frustration!!  It also means I should unpack the dishwasher before he gets up!!

I also started packing my bag for the hospital!!  Which has included the awesome gender neutral blanket from the lovely Me!!

Today (Friday) we are off for the 34 week scan which I have been so excited about as I have never had one so late in pregnancy before.  Apparently it is standard now?  We are all busting to see Jellybean on the big screen for one last time before we actually meet him/her and we also want to see if it has its fingers in its ears blocking out the noise from our insane family!!  He/she needs to stay put for 3 more weeks though!!

And that is it.  We are off to a birthday party tomorrow then a quiet rest of the weekend!!

Berry and Apple Slice

Ingredients
  • Cooking oil spray, for greasing.
  • 150g (1 cup) self-raising flour
  • 90g (1/2 cup) rice flour
  • 55g (1/2 cup) almond meal
  • 80g (1/3 cup) caster sugar or 1/3 cup granulated sugar substitute
  • 250ml (1 cup) buttermilk
  • 2x50g eggs
  • 400g can no-added-sugar apple slices
  • 120g (1 cup) frozen raspberries
Method

  1. Preheat oven to 170deg (fan-forced).  Grease an 18x28cm slab tin with cooking oil spray and line with baking paper, allowing paper to overhang sides.
  2. Put flours, almond meal and sugar in a large bowl and stir to combine.  Put buttermilk and eggs in a small bowl and whisk to combine.  Add buttermilk to flour mixture with apples and raspberries and mix to combine.
  3. Spoon mixture into prepared tin and smooth surface.  Bake for 40-45 minutes or until cooked when tested with a skewer.  Cool in tin for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  4. Cut slice crossways into 7 pieces, then lengthways into 5 pieces.  Serve.
  5. Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.  Or wrap in plastic wrap, put in resealable freezer bags and freeze for up to 3 months.
  6. 1 piece=1 serve/exchange.
I got this recipe from the May/June issue of Diabetic Living magazine.  This is the recipe I promised in yesterdays post!!

This is easy and delicious and I love how I can have a couple of pieces guilt free!!  It does not last long at our house and is here to stay on my baking list after Jellybean arrives and I no longer have gestational diabetes!!

Things I know- Gestational Diabetes for dummys

I was whinging a couple of weeks ago about having to go to a group diabetes session and while it was for the most part boring I did take away some valuable information.  Everything was explained so simply and I am very happy to say I am at the moment diet controlled, no insulin required at this stage.  I have figured out what works for me and the dietician was happy for me to continue with my made up meal plan.  I wish I had known this info first time around as I may have avoided insulin then.  Things have changed a great deal in 2 years though.

So here is the simple info as explained to me for gestational diabetes-

  • Eat 6 times a day
  • Eat 1-2 serves/exchanges of carbs per meal.  An exchange is the technical term for a serve!!
  • A serve/exchange is 15 grams of carbs.  For this diet it is purely looking at the total carbs and not the sugars etc.

After a week of trial and error I have worked out what works for me so a sample day at the moment looks something like this

  • Breakfast- up and go energise (not the normal one) plus my 2 daily coffees
  • Morning tea- cup of tea and 1 serve of fruit usually a small apple or a yoghurt.  If I am out I have one of the kids muesli bars.
  • Lunch- Leftover dinner+1 slice of bread
  • Afternoon tea- fruit or apple and berry slice.  Although since I started having a big lunch I generally skip afternoon tea as I am full
  • Dinner- Meat and "free" vegies + 1 slice of bread
  • Supper- a diet choc mousse, or aple and berry slice.

At the moment my body cannot tolerate 2 serves of carbs or even 1 serve of potato, sweet potato, corn or pasta.  Dinners are usually meat eg corned beef or bolognaise with mashed pumpkin, mashed swede, carrots, brocoli, cauliflower etc.  All of those are "free veg" and I can eat as much of them as I like.  The only "free" fruit I can have is strawberries which I have found cheaply at our fruit shop.

Without looking at anything else this sample has 13g carbs which is basically 1 serve.  It means technically I could have 2 of whatever it is.

So while it sucks and I cannot wait to go back to eating normally life isn't too bad at the moment.  I was cheering when I got told I could drop down to testing blood sugar levels every second day and my next appointment will be in a couple of weeks time.

Pop back tomorrow as I will have the recipe for the Apple and Raspberry Slice up.  I need to get a photo before it all gets eaten again!!

FFS Friday- The walk of shame

Yesterday I did the walk of shame back to our local supermarket after accidentally walking out with 4 litres of milk in the bottom of the pram.  FFS

I blame baby brain for this little indescretion.  FFS

At least I fessed up and paid for it.  FFS

Pregnancy is turning me into a kleptomaniac.  FFS

In other pregnancy news I have been unable to sit down for a week or sleep properly thanks to extremely painful hips.  FFS

Jellybean better be the cutest baby ever and make tonnes of money for me after the rough trot this last 33 weeks has been!!  FFS  Just joking!!

Also I have a 2 year old with a baby in his tummy and a 4 year old telling people the baby is going to pop out in a couple of weeks after we see it on tv again.  FFS

The stuff kids say is priceless although it really isn't funny when they try to lift your shirt up in public to show people/random strangers the baby in the tummy.  FFS

One last pregnancy thing is that if I wasn't so busy stealing milk from the supermarket I would start a petition banning all of those bloody birthing shows from tv for the next few weeks.  FFS

Thanks to a late night partying 2 year old I was stuck watching one on Tuesday night and then had dreams of emergency c sections and 3 day labours.  FFS

We made it to VIVD, it was awesome.  Not FFS

People watching galore took place.  Once again I was surprised by certain peoples stupidity.  For example the large number of people who thought it was ok to set their camera up on the footpath with a tripod.  Are you serious.  FFS

I wish I had taken photos of that.  FFS

Thats it for me and my whinging!!  Baby brain is in full swing and I am lucky to remember what day of the week it is let alone what happened in the week.  FFS

My unofficial VIVID review

Yesterdays Wordless Wednesday was some pics I took on Saturday night when we ventured out of our one horse town and braved the big city streets for the Vivid Sydney festival.

I am so glad we did.  What we saw was absolutely amazing and the atmosphere in the city was fantastic.  I really wish we could have seen more.

I am so excited to go again next year although I will be way more prepared.  Here are a few handy hints I learnt from this year not only for VIVID  but for any time I leave the house really!!
  • Pack food- I was making the most of not having to take mountains of bags of crap with me and also assumed there would be heaps of food available to buy.  There was once we got to The Rocks but by the time we got there the kids were starved.  Thank goodness a couple of enterprising people had set up a makeshift sausage sizzle on the side of the road!!
  • Know where you are going- We wanted to catch the ferry from Darling Harbour around to Circular Quay but by the time we worked out where the ferry left from it was just easier to walk around.  Although a few signs around the place would have been helpful.  It is an easy flat walk but with 2 kids who will be walking next year its a long way for little legs!!
  • Take the bloody map- I neglected to pack the map of all the attractions which would have made life a lot easier!!  Apparently there is a free app which would have been handy to know about before we left as a gazillion people all trying to access the internet made it impossible to get on the website once we were in there.
  • There are a few other handy little things I will take advantage of next year like being able to book cheap parking close to the venues.  By the time I realised this all the booked spots were gone.
  • We will get in there a lot earlier next year before it gets too chaotic.
Hopefully the organisers have learnt a little from this year and will have things like more ferries running and maybe a couple of signposts around!!

Bring on next year!!

Another random ibot express!!

Apparently today is Tuesday which is great except thanks to the long weekend I have lost a day!!  So goodbye planned ibot post and hello 3 cool things from youtube!!

Firstly what happened to Sandi Thom??  I love the punk rocker song and the follow up single from years ago and then she disappeared!!

Second is this cool thing the HOTH showed me on the tube last night of a man who solves a rubiks cube while juggling it!!  Brilliant!!

FFS Friday- Simples

If  I see these commercials again I will throw the tv out of the window.  FFS

All day long my children walk around quoting this stupid ad.  FFS

If they hear it and they are in bed they get up and come running.  FFS

It is doing my head in.  FFS

In other news hello bloody painful night leg cramps and 68  trips a night to the toilet.  FFS

Last weeks gestational diabetes group meeting was long and slow.  FFS

I did however take some useful info away from it although my body just is not playing ball.  FFS

I sense a fight today when I explain what I think my diet should be for the next few weeks to avoid going on to insulin.  FFS

In the last week I have forgotton to check my sugar levels more times than I have remembered.  FFS

It seriously is so time consuming.  FFS

We are going to try again this week to head into the big smoke for the Vivid festival seeing as how it did nothing but pour with rain all last weekend.  FFS

That about wraps it up this week.  Except it is the Queens birthday long weekend here and I feel it should be moved to July to space the long weekends out also can someone explain to me why school holidays are in a couple of weeks?  Did we not just have 2 weeks of school holidays about a month ago.  FFS

Top 5 (sort of) movies, books and music!!

I tend to use this song as complete justification to crack open a bottle earlier than would be considered normal!!  Also I cannot wait to go to

These are 5 random songs I hae chosen because I have heard them in the last week!!  There is no way I can just choose 5 songs that are my faves!!

Books is a tough one as my mind is completely blank but if I hae to think I would say (in no particular order)

Ok I can only think of 3 although I am sure after I finish I will think of more!!

Movies is a toughie.
Probably the best movie I have seen in the last few years.  A couple of other all time faves would have to be

I know all stock standard chick flicks!!

Random express

Hi, hello, welcome, thanks for stopping by!!

IBOT express blogging style.

Today is Tuesday for us that means playgroup which is a good thing.  We have been going to playgroup for nearly 3 years.  I have heard horror stoies of playgoups and bitchy people and violent kids but our one has none of that.  The whole experience was made better by all the coffee drinkers chipping in and bying a coffee pod machine.  Definately worth dragging my butt out of my pjs for!!

I am completely over The Voice.  The judges have bugged me from the start when they were rejecting some serious talent in favour of some not so good.  Last night was the final straw with 2 of my faves not being put through.  I may audition next year as I sound fantastic with a few wines under my belt.

I am loving instagram it seems like fun although I am not loving all the food pictures.  I think it is only fair that the whole world go on the gestational diabetes diet so I do not become green with envy!!

The weeks are flying by way too quickly.  I am in complete denial of the fact that in 8 weeks or under I will have 3 children.  Another example time flying is the fact tomorrow I will have a 2 and a half year old.  Seriously it seems like yesterday he was a newborn.

Another time thing is the fact I have about a gazillion insightful, intelligent, interesting blog posts in my head and exactly zero time to sit and type them out.
I should invest in a personal assistant to type my nonsense!!

Ding ding ding thats the final bell!!  Linking up with Essentially Jess for an express 20 minute ibot!!
